On behalf of Fr. Matthew and myself and our entire Greek Orthodox Community it is with great joy and gratitude that I welcome you to our 41st Annual Greek Festival. What an exciting time! Once again we begin an adventure that will provide a truly memorable experience for all you our guests. Our festival will give you a chance to enjoy our food, dancing, customs and hospitality. You won’t need a passport to discover or enjoy and be a part of our Greek culture so relish and experience the flavors, sights, sounds and learn about our Orthodox faith and the traditions of Greece. As we come together to celebrate and socialize in harmony and fellowship please know our entire Greek Orthodox Festival staff of volunteers stand ready to assist you in making your visit a memorable one. We take great pride in sharing our Greek culture with not only the Salt Lake community but communities throughout the state. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your visit a more memorable and enjoyable one.
We are very blessed and fortunate to host this event each year and because our festival is such a massive undertaking it would not be possible without all of our very dedicated and committed volunteers as well as our very kind and generous sponsors. I cannot express enough my gratitude and appreciation to every one of them for helping make this event possible each year. Because of them our Festival has grown considerably in size and stature, becoming one of the most highly regarded events of its kind in the state. Don’t hesitate to ask our staff of volunteers at any time to help you with any questions. They strive to ensure that every guest will love the full menu of homemade foods and desserts prepared just for you!
As a major fundraiser for our community we appreciate your support and because of all of you we are able to provide support for numerous charities in the Salt Lake City area.
Finally, my sincere thanks and best wishes for a very enjoyable Festival. Please stop me, and say hello, and let’s share a baklava sundae.
In his Love and Service,
Rev. Fr. Elias Koucos
The Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Salt Lake is delighted to welcome you to our 41st Salt Lake Greek Festival. This annual event gives the Salt Lake Greek Community the opportunity to share our deep rooted culture with the great people of the state of Utah. The annual Salt Lake Greek Festival has evolved from its humble beginnings as a bazaar in the basement of the Church showcasing handcrafted items into one of the country's finest and largest Greek festivals. The Salt Lake Greek Festival has also become a Salt Lake community fundraiser, with a large percentage of the proceeds being distributed each year to local charities and community outreach programs.
This wonderful community event is only possible with the labor of love put in by the many volunteers, who spend countless hours preparing for the festival and staffing the three-day event. Equally important are our loyal sponsors who support us each year, some of whom have been with us for the entire 41 years!
We invite you to join us in experiencing our Greek heritage by taking a tour of Holy Trinity Cathedral, visiting the Hellenic Cultural Museum and of course enjoying a wide variety of food and pastries while being entertained with Greek music and dance performances. OPA!
Very Truly Yours,
Thomas W. Peters
